Glow-Up Tips: For your Body and Mind
Searching for glow-up tips to make you feel good inside and out? Don’t worry, we’ve got you.
This year has been a whirlwind. With so much going on in the world, it can sometimes feel hard to keep up. If you’ve been feeling this way, you are not alone!
So, we thought we’d take a moment to slow things down and give you actionable advice for daily wellness and general glow-up tips that can help put a little spring in your step.
Glow-Up Tips: Body
When it comes to the best glow-up tips for feeling good, the body is a great place to start. When our body feels good, we feel more alive, more connected, more ourselves, more radiant, more confident. More everything. This boost in our outer being can revitalise our internal energy.
To help get your body feeling amazing, here are a few practices to consider:
Move your Body: 30 minutes of exercise each day can make a world of difference to how you feel both physically and mentally. From a brisk walk on the beach to a jog, gym session, or yoga class, there’s so much out there to choose from.
Hydrate: I’m sure you’ve heard this before, but we’ll say it again: drinking approximately 2 litres of water or fluids each day can support a variety of bodily functions, from digestion to circulation. It even helps maintain skin elasticity, support kidney function, and boosts cognitive function.
Oral Care: Brushing your teeth at least twice a day and flossing daily prevents plaque buildup and maintains oral health. The act of good oral care can make your smile brighter.
But that's not even the best part!
The more you smile, the more endorphins, the body’s natural feel-good chemicals, get released. This simple act can help reduce stress, improve your mood, and even boost your immune system. Studies have shown that people who smile and laugh more tend to live longer, healthier lives.
Skincare: Taking time to invest in your skincare routine is one of our favourite glow-up tips. You can invest time in the feel-good basics like cleansing and moisturising your skin, or you can go one step further and add a fresh new routine into the mix.
For example, Gua Sha is a traditional Chinese healing technique that involves scraping the skin with a massage tool to improve circulation. It’s believed that Gua Sha can help stimulate blood flow, which can aid in healing. Other skincare benefits include improved skin texture, reduced fine lines and wrinkles, and promoting collagen production.
Shave Care: Traditionally, shaving and the act of body hair removal have been considered a bit of a dull chore. Today, times have changed with brands like Make My Shave transforming the act of shaving into a moment of self-care.
Through their range of skincare-inspired razors, dermaplaning tools, exfoliating, and pre-shave products, you can design a more natural, feel-good shaving routine.
By combining me-time with a pleasurable hair removal process, you’ll be left feeling completely smooth and extra confident from head-to-glow.
Glow-Up Tips: Mind
“A calm mind brings inner strength and self-confidence, so that’s very important for good health.” – Dalai Lama*
To help get your mind feeling as amazing as your body, here are a few well-being practices to boost your mindset:
Meditation: Meditation is one of the best glow-up tips you’ll find, in fact, just 10 minutes each day is like a shower for your mind.
Meditation is know to come with a flurry of benefits that an positively affect both your mental and physical state. From reducing stress and promoting better sleep to lowering blood pressure and improving memory, meditation can help you handle daily events better and make you feel more positive about life.
There are many meditation platforms to choose from. You can invest in an app or simply search on Spotify or YouTube for music or a guided meditation that resonates with you.
Limit Screen Time: Have you ever checked how much time you spend looking at your phone, laptop, or television every day? The figure might scare you!
Somehow, those little devices have taken over our lives and not always in a good way. To create healthier habits around screen time, put some non-negotiables in place.
Create rules such as no phones at dinner and no phones in the bedroom. Create designated times to scroll social media, check emails and watch TV.
Make sure that everyone in your family follows the same rules to increase your connection time. Because if there’s one really powerful glow-up tip it’s staying connected to those we love.
Spend Time in Nature: Spending time surrounded by nature can be a miracle for feeling-good. You don’t even have to go on a 5k bush walk to find nature or an activity that you’ll enjoy. Camping, gardening, picnicking, time at the beach and outdoor sports are all forms of spending time in nature.
Exposure to natural environments can boost the immune system by increasing the production of white blood cells and enhancing overall immune response.
Spending time in nature can even help lower blood pressure and has been known to reduce levels of cortisol, the stress hormone, and alleviate symptoms of anxiety and depression. If that doesn’t warrant time outdoors, we don’t know what does!
Extra Glow-Up Tips for Girls
Of course, there are many more great glow-up tips you can include in your daily routine, such as following a balanced diet packed with fruits, vegetables, lean proteins, and foods rich in antioxidants.
Investing more time in your self-care routine, such as treating yourself to a manicure or pedicure, or simply reading a good book or taking time to journal, can also make a big difference in how you feel inside and out.
Watching your thoughts and curbing your inner critic is another surefire way to boost your inner well-being. Turn your mind into your own personal cheerleader by replacing unhelpful thoughts like, "I'm not good enough," "I'm not pretty enough," or "I'm not smart enough" with thoughts that actually contribute to you feeling good, such as, "I am having a great day," "I am confident in myself," "I believe in myself," "I am unique, I am beautiful, I am an original."
When we stop getting lost in the jungle of our own critical mind, we realize that it's the positive things we actually say about ourselves that are the truth. And by sparking up our own glow, we contribute to enhancing the glow in others around us.
"As we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same." — Marianne Williamson.
