How to Use
How to Dermaplane with Oil
Before you start
Always sanitise your blade before use. You can do this by spraying with isopropyl alcohol or wiping carefully with Dettol, then allowing it to air dry completely. This helps maintain a clean, hygienic routine.
Step 1: Cleanse
Start with freshly cleansed skin. Remove all makeup, sunscreen, and skincare, and ensure your skin is clean before beginning.
Step 2: Apply oil
Apply a few drops of a light, hydrating facial oil. This creates a protective glide, helps support the skin barrier, and allows the dermaplaner to move smoothly across the skin.
Step 3: Dermaplane
Hold the dermaplaner at approximately a 45-degree angle, with the blade facing downwards. Using short, gentle strokes, lightly sweep the blade in the direction of hair growth.
Use minimal pressure and allow the blade to glide naturally. Work in small sections, and wipe the blade clean between strokes if needed.
If it’s your first time
Go slowly and begin with a small area to become comfortable with the technique. Dermaplaning should feel gentle and controlled.
Safety guidance
Our dermaplaner is designed for gentle at-home exfoliation when used as directed. Always use light pressure and avoid use on irritated, inflamed, sunburnt, or compromised skin, including active breakouts or open wounds.

Aftercare
Once finished, massage in any remaining oil and follow with a gentle hydrating serum or moisturiser. Your skin may appear brighter and feel smoother immediately.
Avoid strong active ingredients (such as exfoliating acids or retinol) for 24 hours to allow the skin barrier to settle.
Blade care
After use, carefully clean and sanitise the blade if you intend to reuse it and it remains sharp. Allow it to dry completely before storing. Replace blades regularly to maintain performance and hygiene.

I’m actually obsessed with this kit. The dermaplaner is super easy to use and removes all the peach fuzz + dead skin without irritating my face. Paired with the facial oil, my skin feels sooo smooth, hydrated and looks instantly more glowy.

Your dermaplaning kit questions — answered
Will hair grow back thicker or darker after dermaplaning?
No—dermaplaning only removes vellus hair (aka peach fuzz), which grows back the same texture and colour. This is a common misconception.
Will the oil stop the dermaplaner from removing peach fuzz properly?
This is the most common concern about using oil with dermaplaning, and a fair one.
The key is using the right amount. 3–4 drops for your full face creates enough slip without forming a thick barrier that blocks exfoliation. Our Squalane formula is specifically lightweight to provide glide without preventing the blade from reaching peach fuzz and dead skin.
Many professional facialists prefer dermaplaning with oil for exactly this reason: a gentler, more hydrating result without sacrificing effectiveness. It's particularly well suited to dry, sensitive, or mature skin types who find dry dermaplaning too harsh.
Is dermaplaning safe to do at home?
Yes, when used as directed, our dermaplaner is designed for gentle, controlled exfoliation at home. It helps remove dull surface build-up and fine facial hair while supporting smoother-looking skin.

Is this dermaplaning kit safe for sensitive skin?
Yes — in fact, this kit is specifically well suited to sensitive skin because the facial oil creates a protective cushion between the blade and your skin.
Dermaplaning on dry skin can cause micro-tears, redness, or irritation in sensitive skin types. Using the Squalane and Ceramide-rich oil first significantly reduces friction and actively supports your skin barrier during exfoliation.
Avoid use on active breakouts, inflamed skin, rosacea flares, sunburn, or open wounds. If you're new to dermaplaning and have sensitive skin, start with one small area and wait 24 hours before a full session to see how your skin responds.
How often should I use this dermaplaning kit?
Every 2–4 weeks is the recommended starting point.
How often you should dermaplane depends on your skin and your hair:
You may dermaplane closer to 3 weeks if your peach fuzz regrows quickly or your skin renews fast.
You may wait 4–5 weeks if your skin is sensitive, dry, or mature, or if you notice any tightness or redness after a session.
The most reliable guide isn't the calendar, it's your skin. If the blade glides easily and your skin looks fresh the day after, your timing is right. If you feel any sensitivity, give it an extra week.
What is oilplaning and how is it different from dermaplaning?
Oilplaning is dermaplaning with a non-comedogenic facial oil applied first. It reduces friction and adds hydration during exfoliation.
